Well.... The day has come for me to have to accept the new 2025 Honda Rubicon 520 DCT Deluxe that Honda is trading for the problem ridden 2024 machine that I had. This machine has the possibility of having more of the same issues that my 2024 machine had, but the financial burden is about to get even worse if I take the new machine!!!!
I went to the Registration/Insurance office and they said that it does not matter if it is a trade in replacement for my last machine, I am still liable for all of the taxes that go along with registering the new machine. They said it does not matter if it was a trade in and there was no cash or financial exchange, it is a new vehicle and the taxes must be paid in full before it can be registered and insured. Unless a document is provided that says it is tax exempt (which my 2024 Rubicon was) or that the taxes have been paid at the time of the signing of the bill of sale with the dealership, I can not get it registered or put even storage insurance on it until taxes on the machine are paid in full!!!!
I hope Honda Canada is able to do something because I refuse to have to pay over $2,200 in taxes for something that was originally tax exempt for me....
